Research Overview: Improved modeling of Network-on-chip routers
ORION2.0, released in 2009, is a widely used power and area simulator for Network-on-chip routers. However, there are large errors when compared with actual implementation. My research involves creating enhanced models for NoC routers using a new methodology that uses netlists from RTL generators, commercial SP&R tools and bottom-up analysis of netlists to create area and power models.
I will also be looking at developing power models based on flit-level power simulation as a next step.
