Research Overview: Automated derivation of application-aware error and attack detectors
My research has developed compiler and runtime techniques to derive detectors in order to monitor applications at runtime for errors and attacks. The goal is to detect errors and attacks before they propagate in the system or cause system compromise, and to do so in an automated way without requiring programmer intervention. I am also building tools to implement the derived detectors on reconfigurable hardware. My work forms the basis of the Trusted Illiac project at UIUC, which provides reconfigurable levels of trust to applications executing on large-scale clusters.
