Research Overview:  Embracing Variability

Variation is becoming significant source of inefficiency with the current technology nodes and for any future nodes on the horizon. Designers are handicapped by adhering to antiquated business models and over-simplified specification of systems. By returning the control to designers and ensuring correctness using asynchronous logic, not only systems of the future can be optimized but even chips today can perform at their best instead of their worst. Information from small number of asynchronous parts is enough to optimize the large conventional synchronous systems at no additional effort by designers.
