Understanding Network Processors
Niraj Shah, 24 Sep 2001

This is the network processor report, titled "Understanding Network Processors" that I alluded to during the September meeting.

Abstract:

We first introduce the concept of a network processor and outline the major kernels of network processing. Then, we provide details of 19 different network processors and compare them across many axes. Lastly, we present some directions for the future of network processors.

We also provide a comprehensive list of related web sites.

The file is too big to be posted on gigascale, so here's a link to it.
